About the White Card – new national ‘White Card’ to replace ‘Blue Card’

Under the Workplace Health and Safety Regulation 2008, any person undertaking construction work in Queensland must successfully complete a general safety induction course recognised by Queensland law before they start work in any construction activity. Following completion of the course, the successful participant must be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the course and a general induction card.

The previous accredited course 30215QLD Course in General Safety Induction (Construction Industry), (the Blue Card) expired on 30 June 2009. From 1 July 2009 only CPCCOHS1001A (the White Card) will meet the regulatory requirements.

Interstate Mutual Recognition

Health and safety induction training completed by construction workers in Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland is mutually recognised in those states. More information about mutual recognition of the White Card can be found by going to:

http://www.deir.qld.gov.au/workplace/training/training/induction/recognition/index.htm

Who needs a White Card

All people doing construction work in Queensland must have successfully completed a general safety induction course recognised by Queensland law before they start work in any construction activity.

For more information about who needs a White Card, see:

http://www.deir.qld.gov.au/workplace/training/training/induction/law/index.htm

Be Aware: Workplace Health and Safety Queensland may issue notices for failing to hold a general construction induction card. The maximum penalty for not holding or sighting a general construction induction card is $3,000 or 30 penalty units.

How long does the online course take to complete?

The General Construction Induction course has a nominal duration of 6 hours for face to face delivery. Because this is an online course, the length of time may vary depending on your skill level, your previous experience within the construction industry and your level of computer literacy.

Before you begin - who a Queensland White Card may be issued to

Construction induction cards may only be issued to competent participants who:

a.) are resident in Queensland or;
b.) are not resident, but require evidence of construction induction for the purpose of performing construction work in Queensland, and have completed assessment in the general construction induction course in Queensland

In basic terms, our online course is for you if you reside in Queensland, or if you require the White Card to work in Queensland and complete the course whilst resident at a Queensland address.

What is needed to complete our online course

a computer with internet access and a printer. Popup blocking will need to be disabled.

a person over the age of 18 years, other than yourself, who will be able to observe you completing the online course and state that you are the person enrolled in the course and that you are the person who did the coursework and assessments.

Queensland Construction Induction Card Online – Special Conditions

As a condition of issuing a Queensland construction induction card, it is required that an audit be conducted on a sample of persons who have been issued the card as a result of assessment conducted at a distance. By enrolling in the Queensland Construction Industry White Card (Online) course, it is taken as agreed that at any time up to six(6) weeks after being issued a construction induction card, the course participant may be contacted to verify that such card holder is one and the same person who successfully completed the assessment for the general construction induction course.
